Great turnout this morning, with Labour councillors and members standing in solidarity with RMT!✊

Great turnout on the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) picket this morning! The RMT’s demands are minimal and entirely justified: they want no redundancies and their pay to keep up with inflation.

The government claims it wants to expand the rail network, which you can’t take seriously when they’re also threatening lay-offs. We’ve seen falling wages for over a decade and this year will see the biggest fall in real wages (wages adjusted for inflation) since 1956.

Britain needs a pay rise and trade unions are the path to creating a high-wage economy. Solidarity with the RMT this week ✊🏻

Local and National Party must call for the resignation of the Prime Minister and any staff attending this party, for the overwhelming disrespect caused to anyone decent enough to follow the rules, which THEY created!!

Join our Annual General Meeting tomorrow at Buckland Community Centre, 7:30pm, our first face to face meeting since the pandemic! (Meeting room to open from 7.15pm for membership checks). It would be great to see lots other young members there!

"We ask that all members take a lateral flow test before attending. The wearing of face coverings and social distancing inside the venue are strongly encouraged. Hand sanitiser will be provided and the room will be well-ventilated.

All paid-up members of Portsmouth Labour Party with 8 weeks continuous membership are eligible to attend.

Please note that membership credentials will be checked on the door. Quorum for this meeting is 40 members, so should less than 40 members be present we will be unable to conduct party business."
