Huge shoutout to the amazing team at Smith Mountain Lake Marine Volunteer Fire & Rescue!

Over Memorial Day weekend, your dedication and quick response during a tough fire situation truly made a difference in keeping the community safe. We’re proud that one of our Lake Assault Fire Boats played a role in the successful operation.

Smith Mountain Lake FD recently put their new 28’ Lake Assault Fire Boat into service—and it didn’t take long for it to prove its value. On its very first call, it delivered powerful drafting and waterflow support to both a ladder truck and an engine, helping bring the fire under control.

Built for moments like this, our fire boats are engineered to deliver critical water-based pumping capabilities when they’re needed most.

Friday Feb 7, 2025 was launch day for the new Smith Mountain Lake Volunteer Fire Department Fire, Dive, and Rescue Boat. Builder's trials went very well, and the boat is back in the shop preparing it for display at the upcoming Virginia Port Authority Search and Rescue Forum in Hampton VA Feb 24-28. The following week acceptance trials will be performed at the Lake Assault facility in Portsmouth VA and ownership transferred to the SML VFD.
