In honour of Father’s Day, Andrew, Michael and Rhian Spencer share cherished memories of their dad, Gerry “TAFF” Spencer RM.

“Dad took great pride in his appearance, especially in keeping his shoes impeccably polished, and he was never one to be late. He loved family gatherings and sharing stories from his time in the Services, bringing those memories vividly to life. His warmth, humour and steady guidance are greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.”

The Royal Naval Association's Seven C’s Programme is built on the seven components of Naval Comradeship: Companionship, Community, Connection, Compassion, Care, Commemoration and Celebration.

These principles reflect the enduring Naval ethos - bringing people together to share experiences, support one another in times of need, and celebrate life within our Royal Navy and Royal Marines community.

Funded by Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), the programme helps strengthen wellbeing, belonging, and connection across the RNA family.

HMS Sultan has launched a major fundraising endurance challenge to mark the Bases’ 70th anniversary, with all proceeds going to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

Speaking about the event, Lt Danny Clarke RN, Commanding Officer's Executive Assistant and event organiser, said: "This year we mark the 70th anniversary of HMS Sultan. Throughout that time, Naval Charities, operating under the umbrella of the RNRMC since 2007, have supported our sailors in countless ways. This event is a small token of our appreciation for what they have done for us."

Today, we joined veterans, serving personnel, families and members of the local community at the Falklands Memorial in Portsmouth to mark Falkland Memorial Day.

As we remember those who served, fought and sacrificed during the Falklands conflict, we pay tribute to the courage, commitment and resilience of all who answered the call. Their legacy continues to inspire generations across our naval community.
