Good luck to Lizzy as she takes on the Great South Run for Foster Portsmouth! πŸ’™πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

As part of the team helping to bring this year's event together, Lizzy has been supporting preparations behind the scenes for months. Now she's swapping organising for running and taking on the course herself, while helping to raise awareness of Foster Portsmouth as the city celebrates Portsmouth 100.

Good luck, Lizzy, and don't forget that well-earned Diet Coke and chips after the finish line! πŸŽ‰πŸ’™

This Black History Month, we're celebrating Lennie James, the acclaimed actor and writer known for Line of Duty, Save Me and The Walking Dead.

Following the death of his mother, Lennie spent part of his childhood in a children's home before later living with foster carers and being adopted by his foster mother. He has spoken about the importance of having a place where he felt he belonged and people who cared about his future.

His story is a reminder that children and young people can achieve extraordinary things when they are given stability, encouragement and the opportunity to thrive.

πŸ’™ Every foster carer has the potential to make a lifelong difference.

What a fantastic day at Portsmouth Pride 🌈

Our Foster Portsmouth team loved being part of such a welcoming and inclusive event in the heart of the city. One of the highlights was our "Belonging Tree", where visitors shared what belonging means to them. Messages about feeling safe, loved, accepted and free to be yourself quickly filled the tree, creating a powerful reminder of how important connection and community are.

It was wonderful to see so many people stop by to take part, chat with the team and learn more about fostering and supported lodgings. Thank you to everyone who visited our stall and shared their thoughts with us. Together, you helped create something really special.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’™ 20 runners. One team. One great cause.

This weekend, 20 amazing runners will be representing Foster Portsmouth across the Great South Run 10-mile race, 5K, junior and mini events.

Our team includes foster carers, the children they care for, their own children and families, staff members and supporters, all coming together to raise awareness of fostering and the need for more foster carers in Portsmouth.

We'll be cheering on the entire Team Foster Portsmouth, as they take on the challenge and proudly wear their Foster Portsmouth colours.

Whether they're aiming for a personal best, taking on a long-held ambition, running as a family, or simply supporting a cause close to their hearts, each runner is helping to spread the word about the life-changing difference fostering can make.

A huge thank you to every member of Team Foster Portsmouth for going the extra mile for children and young people across our city. Good luck everyone - we're incredibly proud of you and can't wait to see you cross that finish line! πŸ’™πŸŽ‰

Portsmouth is a city built on strong communities and looking out for one other.

By becoming a foster carer, you could help a local child stay connected to the city they know, their school, their friends and the people who matter to them.

Could you make a difference close to home?

For many young people, meeting their host is the start of a new chapter.

If you have a spare room, patience and a willingness to help a young person build confidence and independence, you could become a Supported Lodgings host in Portsmouth.

Watch the video and see how a simple welcome can change a life. πŸ’™

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Good luck to Chris and family, who are taking on the together this year!

Running has become a real family activity for them. Saturday parkruns, Sunday junior parkruns, runs along the seafront and around Southsea Common, often with children scooting or cycling alongside, the dog joining in, and even a pushchair on the move.

This year five family members are taking part, including a six-year-old running the Mini Great South Run for the first time and two nine-year-olds taking on the junior races after months of training.

Chris says:

"We love getting out as a family. It's great for family time and a great stress relief."

And what are they looking forward to most after crossing the finish line?

"A slap-up lunch, and seeing the children proudly wearing their medals to school the next day!"

From all of us at good luck Chris and family! πŸ’™πŸ§‘
