PSVL are delighted to have been chosen as one of the charities for this year’s Walk The Island fundraising event!
Thank you to the WTI fundraising team for recognising the vital safety and rescue work that our dedicated volunteers do throughout the year to help keep the local community safe on our beaches and local waters around Portsmouth and Southsea.
Thank you also to all all the prospective walkers, fundraisers and members of the public who will be giving generously to great local causes. Please keep following all the social media channels for further news and updates throughout the coming months!
More than 10 local charities applied for Walk The Island’s 2026 support.
After a diligent process of qualifying all the applications, the organising team selected two local Charities who are at the centre of our great Island City and are in urgent need of support from Walk The Island.
The first charity is CONNORS TOY LIBRARY, it has been established since 1973 and is the home to over 10,000 Toys. Headquartered in Portsea, they currently run weekly events at 11 venues across the city, including Anchorage Park, Buckland & Somerstown.
Walk The Island are looking to raise £20/25,000 for Connors Toy Library to build their own Sensory Room which will be available to all families in Portsmouth.
The Second Charity selected for 2026, is the Portsmouth & Southsea Lifeguards. They have been established since 1933 and provide a critical service to the whole of the local community and also to all of the visitors to Southsea sea front. Their main objective is to Save Lives at Sea.
Walk The Island are looking to raise between £5/10,000 to add and to update to their current equipment including Helmets, Lifejackets, Radio’s and a Weather Station.
WALK THE ISLAND 2026 is on 20th June, leaving from The Queens Hotel.
