⭐ Lead the future of Family Help in Portsmouth⭐

We're looking for an experienced Service Leader to join our Family Help team at Portsmouth City Council.

We are building on our recent Outstanding Ofsted (July 2026) success through the implementation of our innovative Family Help Model, bringing together targeted early help, family support and statutory social work into one coordinated, relationship-based service.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire Team Leaders and practitioners, champion relationship-based, strengths-led and trauma-informed practice, and help shape and embed Portsmouth's Family Help Model across the city.

If you have significant leadership experience within children's social care services and a passion for delivering outstanding outcomes for children and families, we'd love to hear from you.

We've opened applications for our Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) Portsmouth City Council. Our 12 month programme provides structured support, regular mentoring and the chance to build confidence through hands on experience in children’s social care.

It’s been a year since the advanced social worker role launched in Portsmouth, and Rachel Pryor-Jones is showing just how impactful it can be.
With a background in young people’s mental health, Rachel blends frontline casework with mentoring, training, and resource development.

She’s helping make clinical language clearer, building confidence across teams, and creating practical tools like one-minute guides on su***de risk and self-harm.
