We’re making bus travel across Portsmouth quicker and more reliable 🚍
Improvements across the city include better bus stops, real-time information, and changes to help buses move more easily through key routes like Northern Parade and Park & Ride.
More upgrades are on the way, including improvements at Lake Road and Kingston Road to help keep buses moving on one of the city’s busiest routes.

Take the bus for FREE on Thursday 18 June for Clean Air Day. Services will be free across all First Bus and Stagecoach services, as well as Pompey Link, if you're boarding anywhere in the Portsmouth boundary.

If you don’t usually travel by bus, this is a great chance to give it a try - whether it’s the school run, the journey to work, or a trip across the city.

Bus services in Portsmouth have improved over the past few years, with more frequent and reliable routes, better waiting areas and more accessible vehicles. More people are already making the switch, with over one million bus journeys taking place in the city every month. On 18 June, you can see for yourself how easy it is.

Portsmouth depot's driver Peter White has secured third place in Stagecoach South's annual Bus Driver of the Year heats! Peter has nearly eight years with Stagecoach South and extensive coach driving experience.

The competition, which has celebrated driving excellence since 1967, brings together skilled drivers from across the business to compete in tests of driving precision, control and roadcraft.

The dedication of the professional drivers in the city is one of the reasons why we have seen such high levels of passenger growth, and the 90% customer satisfaction rate our local bus operators received in a recent Transport Focus survey.

The event was attended by Cabinet Member for Transport Cllr Peter Candlish and Cabinet Member for Services Cllr Chris Atwell, who both joined drivers, colleagues and families at the Portsmouth depot for the competition.
