We’re currently recruiting dancers for our next Strictly Come Dancing!
The really lovely thing about Strictly is that each dancer chooses the charity, community group, club or organisation they want to raise money for, so they can use the whole experience to support a cause that means something to them.
Each dancer is asked to raise a minimum of £500, but the potential is considerably greater. We’ve had individual dancers raise in excess of £10,000 for their chosen organisation.
It’s also about much more than fundraising. Strictly provides a huge platform for smaller charities and community groups to raise their profile, tell people about the work they do and reach a much wider local audience through the fundraising, publicity and promotion in the months leading up to the show.
And, most importantly, it’s great fun! There’s plenty of craic, good exercise, new friendships and absolutely no previous dance experience is needed — everyone is taught from scratch.
Rehearsals begin around the end of September/beginning of October, on Tuesday evenings in Brownlow Community Hub, Craigavon, usually for approximately an hour, with our main show taking place in the Seagoe Hotel in March.
We’d also be very happy to make it a little less daunting for anyone who is curious but unsure about signing up. One of our dance teachers, Ken Bailey, can come along to a group some evening and run a relaxed 45-minute Strictly taster session. People can try a few moves, have a bit of fun and see what’s involved, with absolutely no obligation to sign up afterwards.
