College Green & Ty'r Groes Drive Margam

The Council are scheduled to carry out carriageway resurfacing works at College Green, Margam Thursday 3rd September 2026, 18:00 – 00hrs for 1 Evening.

This scheme date may be subject to slight change, depending on weather conditions and/or any unforeseen plant breakdowns. This has moved from the projected date of the 2nd September

The road will be closed for the duration of the works (18:00 – 00:00)
Residents affected will have received letters.

For those asking on the pothole post, updated about the roads around Aberavon McDonalds

ATS Roundabout/Water Street

UPDATE: Works will take place the week of 24th August.

Myself and Councillor Stephanie Grimshaw for Aberavon and Baglan Moors have received a lot of correspondence about the condition of the reinstated road surface here, following works associated with the new Aldi and Starbucks.

We have been informed that the developer will be carrying out permanent reinstatement works over the next week or so, and these should be to a much better standard.

This will include the area opposite McDonalds and the trenches dug across the roundabout.

Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub CGC / MAWW Fire and Rescue, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and partner agencies are continuing in their response to extensive wildfires across the south Wales valleys and beyond.

Despite temperatures dropping slightly the risk of wildfires remains extremely high. Many wildfires are caused by human activity, whether accidental or deliberate.

Please help protect our beautiful Welsh countryside at this time:
🔥 Never light fires outdoors
🧺 Choose a picnic instead of a BBQ
♻️ Take your litter home, especially glass bottles

A forecast change in wind direction over the weekend may mean that smoke from other areas becomes more noticeable within the Neath Port Talbot area.

Advice from Public Health Wales for any households affected by smoke:
✅ Stay indoors and keep windows closed
✅ If you are travelling, keep your vehicle windows closed, and switch aircon to recirculation mode
✅ Keep inhalers and medication with you
☎️ If you have symptoms and they do not improve when inside, away from smoke or ash, ask for advice from your GP or NHS 111.
