DATE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR YOUTH CLUB! 📅📣

We are excited to announce the start date for our new, weekly youth club with : FRIDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER!

Lytchett Minster and Upton Town Council will host two sessions every Friday evening during term time at The Grove (Upton Rec Ground, BH16 5NF):
• Year 7-9 sessions from 17:00-19:00
• Year 10-13 sessions from 19:30-21:30

The youth club is a FREE chill out space where young people can take part in our huge range of things to do while they socialise. From darts and table tennis to PS5 gaming and custom activities from experienced facilitators at the YMCA, we are fully equipped. Can’t wait to see you there!

HELP TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF OUR TOWN: DEADLINE SUNDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 🏡🏘

Our town needs a Neighbourhood Plan: a community-led document that helps to set out local priorities for the future. It can help to influence decisions from housing and green spaces to local services, infrastructure, and the character of the parish. 📝

We are looking for residents who may be interested in getting involved with the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group which will be responsible for leading the project to a successful conclusion. 🎯

As part of the steering group, you can highlight community needs; your views and ideas will help shape a better future for our parish, putting residents' needs and concerns front and centre. 🙋

No previous experience required: just enthusiasm, commitment, and a desire to contribute. You would also need to be able to attend monthly meetings. 👍

ANNOUNCEMENT: NEW YOUTH CLUB IN UPTON! 🎉 🥳 🎈

We are so excited to announce your brand new local youth club in Upton, starting this September in collaboration with .

// Some Background //

This spring, your local Councillors recognised the lack of provision for young people aged 11+ in the town, and wanted to change things in a big way.

So, we asked young people what they really thought. LMUTC launched a survey of the youth community at Lytchett Minster School that got nearly 800 direct responses. It has now become a landmark study on the needs and concerns of local young people, not only in our town but all over South East Dorset.

The results were clear: across all age groups and genders, the young people of Lytchett Minster and Upton overwhelmingly voted for a new “Chill-Out Space” in their local area.

We worked hard to network with the amazing people doing youth work all over Dorset and, following many consultations and a tremendous grant boost of £4.5k from the Local Alliance Group in Purbeck, we are kick-starting our brand new youth club in late September, run by the wonderful people at YMCA Bournemouth.

// What’s next? //

The youth club is set to start in late September at The Grove in Upton. It will run on Friday evenings, with two sessions per evening to cater for different age groups.

CHANGES TO PROPOSED HIGHWAY WORKS IN YOUR AREA

LOCATION: - Chelmsford Road, Upton.

Further to previous correspondence, a programme change means that, unfortunately, Dorset Council have had to change proposed dates for planned maintenance works.

Works on the above site works will now take place between 2nd and 7th October 2026. All other information will remain the same.

The road will be closed daily, between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00, and will be re-opened to traffic overnight.

Congratulations to all Year 13 students from Lytchett Minster School celebrating the completion of their A Levels this week!

We wish you all the best of luck going forward, and are especially proud of Phoebe Sutton: our Y13 Star Student for STEM. She will continue with higher education supported by the Council's STEM Award Scheme.

Lytchett Minster and Upton Town Council, as well as our STEM award supporters and philanthropists — Lord Rockley, the Lees Family, and South Lytchett Manor Caravan and Camping Park — are all rooting for you.
