August… what an exhausting month !!!
In August alone, the firefighters at Hamworthy have provided 380 hours and 45 minutes (including travel times) at incidents.
That equates to 15 days, 20 hours, and 45 minutes that Hamworthy station has provided support for incidents in August.
That time doesn’t include equipment checks, appliance cleaning and maintenance, restocking, training days, drill nights or any other task to keep us operational.
This time is also not including the incident hours from firefighters who also work full time at other stations (Poole, Westbourne, Springbourne, 3 FF’s at Christchurch, and Salisbury).
Over 380 hours dealing with a wide range of incidents, such as the major incident in the New Forest, a building fire in Lulworth, a barn fire in Throop, grass fires in Westbury and Pimperne, and a fully developed house fire in Dorchester. We have also attended a fair few incidents closer to home in Hamworthy - including a boat fire at Cobbs Quay, a Camper van on fire near the station, a vehicle fire at Rockley Park, and a boat fire at Lake Pier.
We apologise for not being very proactive with our social media posts, but we’ve had quite a bit on our plates.
While this month has certainly been tiring, the love of doing what we do does not disappear.
