Care workers are marching on Downing Street!

๐Ÿ“ข UNISON Fair Visa Nation Rally โ€“ 10 June

Migrant care workers came to the UK when the care sector desperately needed them. They worked hard. They paid their taxes. They built their lives here. They did everything that was asked of them. Now the government wants to change the rules.

For months, UNISON members have lobbied MPs and made the case for fairness. But Keir Starmer and Shabana Mahmood are still pressing ahead.

โœŠ UNISON is done waiting quietly.

Join us on 10 June as we take our message directly to Downing Street and the Home Office.

Mileage rate rise from HMRC is a win for workers โ€” won by our members.

โ€œUNISON has campaigned hard for this long overdue change,โ€ Andrea Egan, UNISON general secretary

โ€œWorkers who use their own cars to do their job have been left thousands of pounds out of pocket for far too many yearsโ€.

โ€œThis simple measure will provide immediate help for countless frontline workers in public services. Particularly at a time when living costs are going through the roof again.โ€

โ€œThereโ€™s still more to do to ensure no one is losing out and the union will continue to campaign for more over the coming months.โ€

UNISON GS on the announcement that the chancellor is raising the mileage rate by 10p a mile.

๐Ÿ•ฏToday is International Workers Memorial Day. The day in which we remember those who have gone to work and never returned home. Workers who have died on the job or who have died years later due to tragic breaches of health and safety and working environments.

Today, we re commit to continue the fight so that everyone has the right to be safe and well whilst at work. "Remember the dead; fight for the living." ๐Ÿ’œ
