We had a lovely productive day yesterday, thanks to all our wonderful volunteers, there were 20 of you! πŸ’š Sasha harvested the first of the mushrooms and cooked us a lovely lunch with other produce from the garden. Winter crops were planted and the new compost heaps started filling up.
We'd also like to thank our volunteers who helped to run the parking for the Heart of the valley show, you did a great job. πŸ’šπŸ‘πŸŒž

Tomorrow is the wonderful Heart of the Valley show and we will be providing parking in our site car park, the Glanrhyd old industrial site will be open as well.
Once you have parked it is a short level walk through our park to the show ground. If you prefer the shuttle bus will be picking up by our main entrance.
Our volunteers will be at the gates to welcome you to give directions. Closer parking for blue badge holders can be found outside the show ground.
Rumination Ltd will be in the park with their wonderful goats. Please feel free to come and say hello and find out more about their working herd.
We hope that you have a great day πŸ’š

Hi, these little bamboo canes are not wands or dog chews!
They are… knotweed markers!
We’re monitoring the effects of hand cutting the knotweed, compared to using the goats to graze it, or leaving it alone. We’re taking periodic photos from the same angles, marked by the sticks, over the next year, so we’d really appreciate it if they stayed in place 😊
Thank you, everyone 🌻
PS. If you do ever want wand sticks, just pop in and ask πŸ’«βœ¨

We have decided that the goats are so happy they will be staying for an extra night πŸ˜€. They are munching away on knotweed now but they were a little late to the table after becoming engrossed by a stand of blackberries πŸ’šπŸπŸ’š.

It's been another great day with the goats, we had to move them again as they ate all the knotweed! We've had lots of visitors to see the goats, the children have loved spending time with them πŸ’š People have shown real interest in this alternative to using pesticides in the control of invasive species and the goats have been booked for knotweed clearance elsewhere.
We have received advice and funding from NPT Local Places for Nature and will be monitoring this project so that we can share the outcomes.
The goats will be going home to Rumination Ltd HQ around midday tomorrow, they will be returning in September after a well earned rest.
