Wet Weather Advice ⚠️

With a number of wet weather warnings in place, please take care out on the roads.

- Slow down, wet roads reduce traction.
- Keep a bigger gap between you and the car ahead.
- Avoid harsh braking or sharp steering.
- Use headlights so others can see you.

If you start to aquaplane: ease off the accelerator and steer gently.

If you come across a flooded road, fallen tree, or other obstacle when driving - contact your local authority.

In an emergency or serious road traffic collision - contact police on 999.

🗣️ YOUNG PEOPLE, REAL VOICES 🗣️

At Wealden Works, the voices of our young people are at the heart of everything we do. Each week, we’re sharing a little insight into their experiences, the progress they’ve made and how being part of Wealden Works has supported them on their journey. This week we hear from Eloise Chandler who secured a job at Nuffield Health after support with Wealden Works.

💬 “After finishing my A-levels, I felt unsure about my next steps and overwhelmed about where to start looking for jobs and how to secure a full time position. Tora and Lisa from Wealden Works took the time to understand my interests, helped reassure me and connected me with Nuffield Health Tunbridge Wells. A27 Falmer Overnight Road Closure Notice

Please be aware that diseased trees are due to be removed on the A27 eastbound slip road at Falmer.

To allow these works to be carried out safely, the A27 eastbound on-slip road at Falmer will be closed overnight on the following dates:

📆Monday 21 September for two nights
⏰9:00pm to 6:00am

📆 Thursday 24 September for two nights
⏰ 9:00pm to 6:00am

Please note: There will be no access for emergency services during the closures.

Diversions: A signed diversion route will be in place throughout the works.

📢 Temporary Works at the Recreation Ground – Date Change
Please note that the dates for the improvement works at the Recreation Ground have changed due to contractor availability.
The works will now take place from 7 September and are expected to last for approximately 3 days.

For everyone's safety, please do not enter any fenced or restricted areas while the works are underway.

This week, our pothole and street lighting teams will be working across the county in Chiddingly, Eastbourne, Peacehaven, Polegate and Herstmonceux.

Please be advised we will also be working in other locations and may be required to attend emergencies outside of our schedule.

Library Update Report - September 2026

We are pleased to report that the storage unit for book donations has now been ordered and is expected to be delivered within the next four weeks. Once it is in place, we will begin accepting and promoting book donations. Please keep an eye on our social media channels for further updates.

The grant application process is taking longer than anticipated. However, we are continuing to explore practical ways to move the project forward while awaiting the outcome.

We are delighted that our established volunteers have begun getting involved with the project. As the library develops and additional roles become available, we will be recruiting more volunteers. Further details will be shared on our social media channels in due course.

If your hedge borders a public footpath, please keep it trimmed back to help everyone use our pathways safely and easily.

🐦 Remember, bird nesting season runs from March to August. Please avoid major hedge cutting and tree work during this period and always check for active nests before carrying out any maintenance. Between September and February is the best time to carry out this type of work.
