Notice to residents... tomorrow we have the Finance and Policy Committee Meeting where we will be discussing the first draft of next years budget including increases to the precept (how much you get taxed) the last few years have seen double digits increases and this year is looking the same, if you have time at 10am it would be great to see some residents and hear their thoughts on any tax increases (note this is just a review and the budget wont be approved until Jan)

Finance Budget Meeting Notice
We’ll be reviewing the first draft of the Council’s budget, based on our current business plan. This draft shows what full funding would look like to achieve all plans, but adjustments may be needed to keep the precept reasonable.

The final tax base is not yet confirmed, which could also affect decisions after December. Please note this is the start of the formal budget setting process and is not a final budget. The final budget and precept setting will happen in early January 2026.

✅ Public comments are welcome during the designated agenda item. After that, the meeting will move into formal session.

The below picture was the public gallery at our last council committee meeting, it rarely gets used, I would like to remind everyone that members of the public have every right to attend committee meetings and full councils meetings.

In fact I feel I can safely say all councillors would welcome your attendance (committee meetings are usually at 10am and full council meetings are 7pm)

The next full council is 30th June @ 7pm, you can see all meetings and its background papers in the below link:

Highlights from todays Buildings and Land Committee meeting:

We approved to fund the installation of a defibrillator at the Thoroughbred Inn.

The defibrillator has been donated by the local First Responders Group and will be added to a growing network of life saving equipment in Polegate.

We also approved a motion to add a second tennis court to the planning application for Brightling Road rec, this was on the advice of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) from what I understand this is so that the courts can be used by multiple users at the same time.

Lots more planned for this area........

Hi All, after speaking to residents at the PTC Annual Assembly, It seems like residents aren't aware that they CAN attend any council meeting Polegate Town Council holds.

On Monday 19th there are two meetings in the evening that (in my opinion) will be about as exciting as it gets:

Co-option of a new councillor:

Election of Mayor and Deputy-Mayor

Hi all, you may or may not know but there is an upcoming by-election in the Polegate South Ward on the 14th of March. Although you may be thinking it's just for the local council (and you're right), but those in Polegate South have a right to vote and I strongly recommend you use that right on the 14th.
