A Q&A with Cecily and Phoebe about the last year of Asset Inspections.

Over the past year, our coastal asset inspectors, Cecily and Phoebe, have been busy carrying out our first set of in-house asset inspections, beginning right here in Plymouth. From long days on foot, to inspections by boat in all kinds of weather, the project has been a significant undertaking — a...

This January we were hit with a run of storms, Goretti (09 January), Ingrid (23/24 January) and Chandra (26/27 January). These had a huge impact on our beaches, which are the first defence for many communities. Figure 1 – Storm waves at Dawlish © Richard Heiron To see how large the waves are, Fig...

The team has been out in the salt air this week, inspecting and grading coastal assets. 🔍

We’ve covered some serious ground, and we're now down to the final 10% of this area!
But where have we been? 📍

Dawlish Closures

🚧 Seawall Footpath – Temporary Closures 🌊

Network Rail will be carrying out essential storm recovery works this week, which will require short daily closures along sections of the footpath at Sprey Point (Teignmouth end) and at the steps just beyond Sprey Point.

The works are scheduled from today (Monday 16 February) until Friday 20 February and will take place for a few hours each day. The path will reopen as soon as each day’s works are completed.

There will also be a closure just past the café at Langstone Rock, at Rockstone Footbridge, and in Dawlish at the start of the seawall near the Coastguards breakwater. This is to allow the installation of palisade fencing for public safety, which will be removed once works are complete. Advance closure signage will be placed on the footpath to inform the public.

Thank you for your patience while these essential repairs are carried out.
