Yesterday evening, we joined our friends and colleagues from Plympton Fire Station and Crownhill Fire Station at the Service Training Centre. We were hosted by the Assistant Chief Fire Officer and our Area Manager to receive commendations for the crews’ actions at an incident late last year.
The five crew members from Plymstock, who attended the incident, all received individual commendations as well as the station getting an overall commendation.
Part of the commendation reads:
“You were mobilised to an incident where upon arrival you found a 4-storey block of flats engulfed in flames.
Using your professionalism, teamwork and bravery, you collectively completed 28 ladder rescues and led three individuals to safety via a ground floor window”
We are immensely proud of the five crew members who were commended for their actions at the incident. They’re a credit to Station 51 and the wider fire service.
Not being a crew that likes to rest on its laurels, however, we used the opportunity of being at the Service Training Centre to run ladder drills alongside the crew from Plympton.
