Last night, Green Watch had the privilege of supporting Emily-Jane on her incredible fundraising journey.
Emily-Jane spent the night with the crew before continuing on her inspiring adventure.
Please take a moment to read her story below.

Hi, I’m Emily-Jane (also known as Em-J) – a passionate hiker, a retained firefighter, and someone who loves a good challenge (especially on my birthday!). For my 30th in 2025, I’m taking on the biggest adventure of my life: walking the full 630 miles of the South West Coast Path – carrying everything I need on my back.

🌊 About the Challenge:

The South West Coast Path is the UK’s longest National Trail, stretching from Minehead in Somerset to South Haven Point in Dorset, and winding through four stunning counties – Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset. It’s not just long; it’s tough – the total elevation is the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest four times!

I’m fundraising for three incredible charities:
- The Fire Fighters Charity
- The Veterans Foundation
- The South West Coast Path Association.

🌟 How You Can Help:

Whether you can donate a little or a lot, every pound makes a difference. Your support will not only keep me going when the blisters hit, but more importantly, it’ll make a real impact on lives across the UK.

πŸ‘‰ Follow my journey on Instagram , where I’ll be sharing updates, training hikes, behind-the-scenes stories, and (hopefully) stunning views from the trail.

πŸš’ Green Watch Community Engagement!

Today, Green Watch proudly showcased some of our brand-new fleet out in the community! 🚨 It was a fantastic opportunity for us to meet local residents, answer your questions, and share essential fire safety advice.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to say helloβ€”it’s always great to connect and keep our community safe together. πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

πŸš’πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ Joint Training with HART Team πŸš‘πŸ’ͺ

Today, crews from Green Watch; Greenbank Fire Station, Camels Head Fire Station, and Crownhill Fire Station took part in a fantastic joint training session with the HART (Hazardous Area Response Team).

We had the opportunity to see their specialist equipment up close and gain a deeper understanding of their capabilities when responding to complex and hazardous incidents.

This type of multi-agency training is vital for building strong working relationships and improving joint response β€” all in line with the JESIP principles. Training together helps ensure we are coordinated, communicate effectively, and can work seamlessly during real emergencies.

Great teamwork and collaboration across the board!

Last week Red Watch attended an exercise with Torpoint ferry staff to test theirs and ours emergency procedures. The exercise simulated a vehicle fire on board a ferry part way through a crossing. Staff from each organisation were able to test and discuss options available to them and outline how we would work better together in the event of such an incident.

Today we welcome a new operational resource to Greenbank Fire Station, in the form of an Aerial Ladder Platform. This resource is primary crewed, can reach heights of 45 meters and will help crews deal with the risk profile we have in the Plymouth area. It will work alongside our existing pumping appliances. It will additionally be utilised for incidents throughout Devon and Somerset, as well as cross boarder incidents.
