Kellie Castle & Garden NTS

Kellie Castle & Garden NTS The National Trust for Scotland's Kellie Castle in Fife dates from as early as the 14th century.

The grounds and garden could easily be a day out in themselves, with acres of woodland walks, a bird hide and an abundance of nature. The Arts & Crafts garden is packed with beautiful borders of old-fashioned roses and herbaceous plants, as well as fruit and vegetables – all grown organically. Seasonal events throughout the year give you even more reasons to join us for a memorable trip into Scotland’s past.

Members of our East Fife Garden Team recently joined colleagues at Branklyn Garden NTS for a bioblitz to record what bugs, beasties and fungi they have in the garden. Ruth Alexander and Angus from NTS North Perthshire Rangers were on hand to educate, identify and record what was found ❤️
Thanks for the experience 👌

Damsons with a view 😎

Available to buy now through our summerhouse 👌

But what to do with them ?

Preserves: Widely cooked into Damson jam, jellies, and damson cheese.
Beverages: Steeped in gin or vodka to make damson gin.
Baking: Used in pies, tarts, and crumbles because their firm flesh holds up well to heat.

Our garden team are always increasing our fruit collection.
This recently planted Lady Lambourne is a striking dessert apple variety that originated as a highly coloured mutation (sport) of the popular Lord Lambourne apple. Found in Berkshire, United Kingdom, around 1945. Features intensely coloured skin displaying vibrant sunset shades of bright red, orange, and yellow.Possesses creamy white, crisp, and juicy flesh with the same sweet, excellent flavor profile as the Lord Lambourne.
We can’t wait to be able to actually try one 😁

Please be aware we have wasps nesting within the garden and speak to a member of our team if you want any guidance while visiting ✨

Wasps are very important in any garden. They are crucial pollinators of all our beautiful plants and are powerful natural pest control - a very important role in an organic garden 🌿
