We’re kicking off an exciting project to improve our village pathways, and we’d love your help!

📅 Date: Saturday 22nd November #
⏰ Time: 10:00am
📍 Meeting Point: Playing Field entrance

Bring along wheelbarrows,spades or other edging equipment, gloves, sturdy footwear, and plenty of enthusiasm. Whether you can spare an hour or the whole morning, every pair of hands will make a difference.

Let’s come together to make our village even more welcoming and accessible.

Your Parish Council needs more councillors. You might wonder what a councillor does, or why it matters to keep some local control. One example of what would happen should we end up being controlled by a larger, distant council,that does not appreciate village life, a lot of our residents will remember.
A lot of years ago now the Parish Council took control of the Green cutting, it was previously looked after by its owners NYCC, we did this because NYCC thought 2 cuts a year sufficient, leaving the green scruffy and unusable for most of the summer. We now have a beautiful Green well maintained and able to be used by the whole community, this is a good visible example of what a Parish council does, and what we stand to loose if power passess away from the village community to a larger council.

Do you live in the parishes of Newton upon Rawcliffe and Stape? Would you like to help the community by joining us as a councillor? We meet 4 times a year for ordinary meetings and value an array of views being brought to the floor, enabling informed decision making. If the villages are important to you, please consider this proposal carefully as it would be a shame for our powers to go to Pickering.

Sorry Everyone but this clashes with the Clothes Sale at the village hall.
So the Community Clean Up is postponed for now. If any willing volunteers would let me know when they are available (Saturdays,Sundays, Bank holidays) maybe I can come up with a better date!
