Are you based in Hampshire? We’d love your support. If you’ve visited Chawton House recently, you may have noticed that our Maids’ Staircase is looking a little worse for wear. Generations of footsteps have taken their toll, and we’re now working to secure funding to repair and preserve it.

Today my fellow trustees and I walked about the estate and observed some of the great work that’s been done and that will be done in the future. The beauty of parts of the estate, such as Persuasion Row, is simple breathtaking and there is little wonder that they have been immortalised in literature. We are truly fortunate to have such a beautiful place.
