Thanks to everyone who attended our Nature Day on Saturday.
It was a great success with around 30 people of all ages turning up.
Steve Bolton from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust
led us on a fascinating walk round the Meadow helping us to identify a variety of bugs and butterflies, also showing us how to use the i naturalist phone app. Melanie Oxley, one of our Trustees , supervised a group carrying out a survey of the wild flowers and grasses in our Meadow. Simon Bizley from the Hampshire Bat Group brought along a variety of bat roosting boxes to show us (he has already put up 6 in the Meadow)
We also identified a wide variety of moths caught in a moth trap the night before. Who knew how beautiful moths are close up!
I and the other Trustees really enjoyed meeting so many enthusiastic supporters of our beautiful Meadow and I’m sure this will be the first of many such days!
