🚨Dispersal Order in Place – Peterlee 🚨

Due to ongoing anti-social behaviour in the area, a Dispersal Order is now in effect across Peterlee. This was authorised at 19:15 hrs today and will run for 48 hours.
Anyone entering this area with the intention to commit Anti-Social Behaviour, or engage in Anti-social behaviour may be given a direction to leave.
Failure to comply with this direction could result in arrest or a fine.

This action has been taken to protect local residents and the community, some of which have been targeted with damage to property and nuisance behaviour. There will be an increased police presence during these times.

Most people in our community are respectful however this has been put in place to address the behaviour of a small minority whose actions are impacting others.

🚨Community Update – Anti-Social Use of Motor Vehicles and Off-Road Vehicles in Trimdon🚨

**SECTION 59 NOTICES**
This is just a little reminder to let everyone know that Trimdon is still a Section 59 area.

Section 59 warning notices have been up in the area for quite some time but unfortunately it seems that some people aren’t aware or choose to ignore them.

Over the past few weeks, officers have been carrying out targeted patrols in key areas and speaking with residents who’ve been affected.

The signs allow us to deal with riders causing nuisance or using bikes/quads illegally, as well as any vehicle being used in an anti-social manner. 🚫🏍️

The Section 59 signs act as an automatic warning, meaning anyone found driving in an anti-social manner will have their vehicle seized. If the riders/drivers are caught committing any driving offences, they will also be reported for those.

✨What we’re doing:
• Increasing patrols in hotspot areas
• Working with local partners to identify repeat offenders
• Engaging with riders to explain the risks and consequences
• Responding to information provided by the community

✨How you can help:
If you see off-road bikes or vehicles being used dangerously or causing a disturbance, please report it to us. Every report helps us build the bigger picture and act more quickly

Thank you to everyone who has already shared information – we hear you, and we’re acting on it

Let’s keep our village’s safe, calm, and enjoyable for everyone
Please see map below which shows the area in which the section 59 is in place (highlighted in red)

A man has been arrested following disorder in Horden yesterday evening (April 3).

Officers were deployed shortly after 9.15pm after large crowds had gathered outside a house in Tenth Street where demands were made for an individual to be removed from the area.

This resulted in pockets of serious violence, which saw bricks being thrown at police officers and extensive damage caused to a house.

A van containing police dogs was also rammed by an e-bike.

Officers have today arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the incident and taken him into police custody, where he remains this afternoon.

Chief Superintendent Andrea Arthur, from Durham Constabulary, said: “While we will always uphold the right to lawful protest, we will take necessary action against anyone who deliberately chooses to act outside the law.

“The behaviour of certain individuals yesterday evening was appalling - they engaged in vile and destructive behaviour, attacking the police officers who were deployed to protect members of the public, and caused other residents to feel terrified in their own homes.

“We will not tolerate violent disorder of this nature in our communities. Those involved in the disorder were captured on bodycam and officers are reviewing footage to identify further offenders.

“We will do everything in our power to find those responsible, and deal with them robustly to protect our community.”

Great work team 👏

👊 A significant quantity of stolen machinery, vehicles, and trailers valued at hundreds of thousands of pounds has been recovered following a coordinated operation led by the Peterlee Police neighbourhood team.

The recovery, supported by Durham Roads & Armed Policing and colleagues from Northumbria Police, took place earlier this week in the Hebburn area of South Tyneside. The seized items are believed to have been stolen from locations across the country.

The operation was initiated following multiple reports of stolen equipment across County Durham. A PCSO from the local NPT reviewed CCTV footage showing plant machinery being towed by a Land Rover. Working closely with the force’s intelligence unit, officers were able to identify and locate the stolen property to an address and swiftly acted.

💬 Rural crime lead, Inspector Andy Reeves said: “The theft of equipment and vehicles causes significant disruption to livelihoods, particularly within the agricultural and construction sectors. Through proactive policing and strong partnership working, we have been able to recover a substantial haul of stolen items and prevent further harm.

“Officers continue to work under Rurali, the force’s dedicated initiative aimed at tackling issues affecting rural communities and strengthening collaboration with residents.

“Rural crime, including the theft of machinery, plant, and vehicles, can have a devastating impact on farmers, businesses, and communities across the county.

“We remain committed to taking robust action against those involved in rural crime and will continue to protect the communities we serve.”

A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the theft. An investigation is now ongoing.
