In the coming weeks, the Government is expected to announce what local councils in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will look like in future.

Our area is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) – the process by which the seven current county, district, city and unitary councils are replaced with a smaller number of new ‘unitary councils’. These will be responsible for providing all the council services you access from April 2028.

Whatever the Government decides, your services will continue as normal. Local councils remain fully operational and committed to supporting communities - especially those who need us most.

The Government is expected to confirm which new councils will be created in July 2026. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Neil was disillusioned with his corporate career. He’d scaled the corporate ladder and achieved great things. The Covid pandemic made him re-assess his life. Chasing the dollar wasn’t doing it for him anymore.

Foster carers come from all walks of life. Neil and his second wife have a blended family of teenagers from their previous marriages. They’ve discovered they’re brilliant at fostering teenagers.

An everyday life in an everyday home, with a steady routine from walking the dog to cooking dinner together can be life-changing for a child in care.

Could you be that person for a local child here in Peterborough?

This , take action on seeking support with alcohol.

Alcohol is one of the major causes of liver disease and liver disease deaths are nearly twice as high among men compared to women. The good news is that it’s estimated that nearly 90% of liver disease cases could be prevented with healthy lifestyle changes (British Liver Trust).

If anyone needs help around alcohol use, speak to your GP or get in contact with CGL Aspire Peterborough:

If you’re struggling with drugs or alcohol, we’re here to help with advice, information and support.

A new time-limited MenB vaccination offer has been introduced in response to recent meningitis outbreaks.

It is available this summer for Year 13 students and under 25s who will be starting university as undergraduates or moving into residential further education settings for the first time in autumn.

Eligible people will need two doses for protection, with the first being offered from July and the second dose provided from August.

Students in the age group for Year 13 will be contacted by the NHS and sent a link through which they can book a pharmacy appointment to get the vaccine. University and residential further education students who are eligible will be able to arrange a vaccination via walk-in at participating pharmacy.

We're launching a one-off MenB vaccination programme ahead of the next academic year to protect young people from a life-threatening disease.

This will help reduce the risk of serious illness and larger outbreaks. Two doses are needed for full protection.

The vaccination will be available to:

➡️ people who complete year 13 of education in summer 2026

➡️ people under 25 starting university or moving into some further education accommodation or halls of residence for the first time in autumn 2026
