What's on in Yaxley this week

There will be a meeting of Full Council on Tuesday 8th September at 7pm followed by a meeting of the Planning Committee expected start time of 8pm. Both meetings will take place in the Council Chamber at the Amenity Centre.

Camara club will be meeting on Thursday 10th September at 7pm in Queens Park Hall, Daimler Avenue. If you have an interest in photography why not come along and join this friendly group who share tips and techniques as well as their wonderful photographs.

The Yaxley Coffee Club will be holding a Macmillan coffee morning fundraising event on Monday 21st September. There will be hot drinks, lots of cakes and bakes as well as a raffle. Please come along and help us raise as much money as possible for a great cause.

Huntingdonshire District Council has released a short film - What happens to your food Waste. Since its launch on 30th March 2026, residents across the district have already diverted 1,500 tonnes from general waste. Watch the video here ....

🚦 **TRAFFIC SIGNAL WORKS – LONDON ROAD / BROADWAY, YAXLEY** 🚦

Please be aware that Cambridgeshire County Council will soon be carrying out essential works to modernise the traffic signals at the London Road / Broadway junction in Yaxley.

📅 Start date: Monday 14 September 2026
⏱️ Duration: Approximately 6 weeks
📍 Location: London Road / Broadway junction

The works are being carried out to modernise the traffic signal equipment, improve reliability, replace obsolete street furniture and ensure the junction meets current standards.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place - while the work is carried out. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to traffic and pedestrians, and access to private properties and businesses will be maintained wherever possible.

Please allow a little extra time for your journey and take care around the works.

The Community Fridge will be back on Wednesday 2nd September at 10:30am and the Coffee Club will be back on Monday 7th September at 10am.

What’s on in Yaxley this week

Join us for a community litter pick on Tuesday 1st September. This will start at 10:30 am at the Rec Pavilion where you can collect equipment before heading of to give the village a clean-up. Afterwards return to the Pavilion where there will be refreshments waiting.

On Tuesday 1st September between 5-6pm there is a FREE session on the 3G for teens and young adults to play football.
This weekly session is run by the HDC Active Lifestyles Team and a great way to meet people as well as get active and have fun. Anyone interested in taking part can email [email protected] or call 01480388111 for more information. Alternatively come along and have a chat with the instructor.

The Youth Group will be in Queens Park on Thursday 3rd September This is for those in school years 7-9, 4:30-6pm. A parent or guardian need to sign up the young person at their first session. Run by St Peter's Church this group is a fun place for young people to spend time together outside of school.

We'll be gathering at the Pavilion, where litter-picking equipment will be available to borrow before we head out around the village.
Once we've finished, return to the Pavilion to enjoy some light refreshments and a well-earned catch-up with fellow volunteers. ☕🍪
