Remember when Labour axed 4 school crossing patrols in 2024/25 to save money?
They said it was “one of a number of difficult decisions” needed to balance the budget.
And remember when several Labour Councillors then offered to pay for the wages of the lollipop lady at Newark Hill Primary out of their Community Leadership Funds (CLF), only to withdraw that funding one year later?
Well, here we are, two years on, and there’s a shiny new crossing outside one of the schools that had its school crossing patrol axed.
So, where has the money suddenly come from for this, if we couldn’t afford to keep the lollipop ladies, which would have cost considerably less than a brand new crossing? 🤷🏻♀️
