Yesterday we said farewell to our amazing NICU ward manager, Katie Barke (on the right). Katie is excited to start a brand-new role as the Roald Dahl Children of Medical Complexity Neonatal Nurse for the East of England! She will be working with neonatal units within the East of England, acting as a liaison, supporting staff teaching or training and offering emotional support for families to be able to care for their babies.
We wish her all the best, and we welcome Gemma Sharpe (on the left), who is taking over as NICU ward manager.

The Institute of Cancer Research have started a new initiative called ICR Publish: Clinical Trials Results Live - a series of free webinars sharing clinical trial results with a public audience.

The next webinar will take place on Wednesday 02 July (12pm - 1pm) and will showcase the FAST-Forward trial that looked at a shorter way to give radiotherapy for breast cancer. This trial recruited 4,110 people affected by breast cancer from 2011 to 2014, and the five-year results were released at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The long-term findings are now available, and we would like to share these as widely as possible.

Speakers include Professor Murray Brunt (Keele University), Professor Anna Kirby (Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust), Dr Fay Cafferty, (Principal Statistician, ICR-CTSU) and Helen Fleming, Patient Advocate.

To attend, please register here, https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=ufc4Yeru90ega7kKaS8jjh72frlHk3VArzG5_hKaFLZURE9ET0xSWkhTMjY1V0FBQ1hNRVJJWlJDWi4u&route=shorturl, a joining link will be sent after registration.

The FAST-Forward clinical trial tested a shorter way of giving breast radiotherapy. Instead of having 15 sessions over three weeks, it looked at giving 5 sessions in just one week.  The results after five years were shared just as the COVID-19 pandemic began. This meant many women could co...

It's Diabetes Week (8-15 June) - with this year's theme 'Let's change how we talk about diabetes' as part of the Strike Out Stigma message.

Eight out of 10 people living with diabetes say they’ve faced negative attitudes because of their diabetes - people passing judgement, making sweeping statements, or blaming and shaming people living with diabetes.

Our diabetes team will be hosting a stand in the Peterborough City Hospital Atrium throughout the week to offer advice, support and education.
