We have a range of exhibits covering different aspects of local life through the centuries, from the 3,000 year old logboat recovered in 2007 to daily life in more modern times - there's a lot to learn about the local area! We're keen to hear all your sto

ries about life in Abernethy - from going to the shops to going to the berries, we'd love to know about it! If you'd be interested in talking to us about your life in Auld Abernethy, drop us a line at [email protected] and we can arrange to come and have a chat. Enquiries about local history are also welcomed - please do bear in mind that we're all volunteers so it might take a day or two to get back to you, but we'll always reply! Keep an eye out in the new year for info on events taking place in the museum - we look forward to seeing you all when we re-open next spring.

The World Cup starts today! ⚽

These gents are the Abernethy Rovers, and it looks like they mean business. Let's hope Scotland adopt the same mentality for their games!

Details are sparse on this photo, so if you know who anyone in the team is, or when this picture was likely taken, leave a comment. (Also tell us who you will be supporting in this year's World Cup.)

This week's selection is the Millennium Quilt, which we're very lucky to have on display. Volunteer Julie Illingworth said " I love the community spirit reflected in the quilt and it reminds me of my first days in the village - how being part of the creation - the sewing sessions in the Session House - helped me settle into the village".

Do you have a favourite item in our displays? Or a favourite place in the village? Drop your favourites in the replies or send us a wee message for a chance to be featured in our 2027 Calendar! Pics can be colour or black and white; all we ask is that the person who took the photo lives in Abernethy and has consented to their work being shared.
