We were delighted to welcome the First Minister John Swinney this morning and to have the opportunity to talk about the experiences and needs of the women and children we support every day.

We also discussed the funding landscape for charitable organisations delivering vital services and shared some of the realities facing the sector.

Visits like these provide a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of our work and the challenges experienced by the people and communities we support.

What an inspirational day celebrating the unveiling of the new crannog last week.

We were proud to support this special occasion, and our manager was honoured to say a few words during the event. A huge thank you to the Scottish Crannog Centre for allowing us to be part of such a memorable day, and for their continued support to offering opportunities for our women and children.

It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate, with fantastic performances and a real sense of community throughout the day.

We welcome and support The Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service' awareness raising around non-fatal strangulation and stand alongside the Women’s Aid network in raising awareness of the serious harm it can cause and supporting those affected.
Non-fatal strangulation is one of the most dangerous forms of abuse and is strongly linked to future risk of serious harm and homicide. In the UK, strangulation is the second most common method of female murder.

At Perthshire Women’s Aid we support many women who have experienced ongoing health issues after strangulation, including those who have had strokes, as well as further physical health complications and severe PTSD.
Non-fatal strangulation is never “minor” it is a serious form of abuse and should always be taken seriously.
