💜 This week is Volunteers' Week and we want to recognise the thousands of people who give up their time to make Wychavon a better place to live.
According to our residents' survey, 37% of adults in Wychavon volunteer in their local area – that's estimated to be almost 40,000 of you making a difference in your communities and that's before we count the efforts of our young people too!
Over the last year we've been celebrating some of these amazing people through our Community Stars awards scheme, including:
⭐ Karen and Steve Bearcroft, who dedicate their spare time to looking after the welfare of the swans along the River Avon in Evesham and clearing away hazards like discarded fishing line and dumped rubbish.
⭐ Margaret Ballard, who has run a ladies' choir in Inkberrow for more than 50 years, creating a place of friendship, support and encouragement.
⭐ Katie Thorley, who gives up countless hours supporting Wychbold and Droitwich Baby Bank. Her passion for supporting families through the cost-of-living crisis has inspired others, including members of her own family, to volunteer.
⭐ Cheryl Peters, whose service to the community in Norton includes being a Public Rights of Way Warden, a member of the Worcestershire Regiment Group and Norton Royal British Legion, volunteering in the coffee shop and bar at both the Parish Hall and Sergeants' Mess, and Chair of the Community Apiary Group.
Whether you're helping at your local food bank, providing advice to those in need, caring for our natural environment, running a sports club, helping people get around or supporting the next generation, there's just one thing we want to say...
🙏 THANK YOU! Your efforts do not go unnoticed.
