Ghostnetbusters ALDFG Recovery We are a group of volunteers from a range of marine conservation organisations coming together to retrieve + recycle ghost fishing net around Cornwall UK.

We also coordinate net recovery across the county.

Thank you Perranporth Community and visitors for getting this lot off the beach and into our recycling crates. What an amazing effort from everyone!! 🙏👏🌊

There has been a huge amount of fishing rope and line washing up in the last few weeks. 😢

😀This plastic will no longer be posing a threat to our marine life and will be going off to Exeter City Council for recycling into other products such as kayaks.🛶

A huge thank you to all those independent beach cleaners out there helping to make our beach a more pleasant experience for us and wildlife. We have just emptied our recycling crate for marine plastic and fishing line and net and the contents taken away to be reused as kayaks and other products, some of which may end up back here at Circular & Co as reusable coffee cups!

HINTS ON RECYCLING: Our volunteers have to sort through this litter by hand, so to make our life easier, please separate the hard plastic from the fishing line and net (there are 2 sections to our crate) and please remove any organic matter such as seaweed and pop back onto the beach. Any plastic with metal in it (often found in spades still attached to wooden handle), should be discarded too. We cannot recycle soft plastics such as windbreaks, plastic bags, sweet and crisp packets. Please no rubber items such as pieces of dog’s tennis balls or polystyrene pieces from bodyboards and food containers and no fabrics such as socks or paddling shoes with fabric on them.

The bodyboard recycling crate is managed by volunteers from the amazing P.A.C.E. (Perranzabuloe Action for Climate Emergency) team and is currently being refurbished.
