We had an amazing May half-term visit to National Trust Trengwainton Garden ☀️🌿
With the warm weather, we took our time exploring, enjoying relaxed rest stops and a lovely picnic under the trees. The children loved the open spaces to run and play, and a big highlight was the pond—where frogs and tadpoles were spotted (a clear favourite for some! 🐸).
There was also plenty of creativity, with everyone capturing the beautiful flowers and gardens through photography 📸.
Even the bus journey added to the excitement!
A fantastic day full of fun, exploration, and connecting with nature and each other 💚

Today, we’re recognising the amazing volunteers who support our helpline, community services, and refuge.

These volunteers are often the first point of contact for women reaching out for help. They provide:
💬 A listening ear through our helpline
🤝 Practical and emotional support in the community
🏠 Care and reassurance within our refuge services

Their kindness, patience, and dedication make a real difference every single day.
Whether it’s answering a difficult call, offering reassurance in a moment of crisis, or simply being there — their impact is profound.

💜 We couldn’t do this work without them.

Today we're spotlighting the incredible work of our volunteer counsellors.

Thanks to their expertise, dedication, and empathy, we’re able to offer free 1-to-1 counselling sessions to women who need support following domestic abuse.

These sessions provide a safe, confidential space for women to process their experiences, rebuild confidence, and begin to heal — something that wouldn’t be possible without our volunteer team.

Our counsellors give their time generously, but what they provide is truly invaluable.
✨ Listening.
✨ Understanding.
✨ Helping rebuild lives.

We are so grateful for everything they do.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re reflecting on where it all began.

Our charity was founded by a group of passionate volunteers who recognised a critical need in the community — to support women experiencing domestic abuse. They gave their time, compassion, and determination.

Since those early days, we’ve grown into a larger organisation, supporting more women and families than ever before. But one thing hasn’t changed.

💜 Volunteers are still at the heart of everything we do.

They continue to play an essential role in delivering our services, standing alongside us to ensure no woman has to face abuse alone.

To all our past and present volunteers — thank you. Your commitment has shaped our past and continues to build our future.
