A little bit of nautical terminology for our final Photo Friday of May.

‘Tucking a pilchard seine’ was when an exceptionally large catch was netted. The "tucker" was a smaller net used to keep the bulk of the catch in the main net (centre of picture) whilst the rest of the catch was carted away. This was reputedly one of the biggest "landings" recorded in this area, in the 1920s.

Year 10 student Coby joined us last week for some work experience. He shadowed the volunteers and learnt all about cataloguing, conservation, indexing the photo collections and more.

Coby won second prize in our Children's Short Story Competition last year (https://shorturl.at/JLl0u), so we asked him to write us a blog sharing his experiences with us during his time here. Read it here: https://shorturl.at/sy3G8

Have you nabbed your place for tomorrow's workshops? There are still a few spaces available for the morning session so get in touch with Carolyn to book.

There are still a few spaces available for artist Carolyn Savidge’s Biscuit Tin of Memories workshop.

The afternoon session is full, but there are still some spaces available in the morning.

This workshop is about expressing in words the things that are left unsaid, and using these collective fragments of text to create a paper quilt, which will be displayed in the library.
