An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cornwall Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Team.
We have two posts available, one as the dedicated ASB Caseworker for Penzance ) and another post as as the dedicated ASB Caseworker for Redruth.
The first role is responsible for providing a highly visible presence, foot patrolling in Penzance Town Centre and surrounding areas and the second role is responsible for providing a highly visible presence, foot patrolling in Redruth Town Centre and surrounding areas . Both roles liaise closely with the police, and provides advice, support and assurance to businesses, shoppers, and residents. The role works closely with organisations who provide support for members of the community with complex and vulnerable needs, including rough sleepers and street drinkers, building relationships with the individuals themselves, providing a balance of support and, where necessary, enforcement.
The roles will deliver a high quality ASB service through the use of prevention and enforcement tools. The purpose of this post is to tackle a range of anti-social behaviour in adults and young people, covering all housing tenures, in neighbourhoods and in community-based hotspots, through being solution focused and working in partnership with all relevant agencies.
What you’ll need to succeed:
Being a non-confrontational role, the role holder needs to be calm, measured, confident, and able to diffuse potentially challenging situations. Flexibility, resilience and organisational skills are essential for the role along with a good general level of education.
You will also need to:
• demonstrate good knowledge of ASB legislation and experience of partnership working amongst statutory and non statutory agencies;
• have the ability to work unsupervised and prioritise own workload through self-organisation
• have good experience of conflict management through use of communication and situational management
• demonstrate excellent experience of working as part of a team preferably in the relevant functional area
• have the ability to make impartial decisions based on evidence
Due to the foot patrolling aspect, the role holder will need to be physically fit and healthy and prepared to patrol in all weather conditions.
A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
