There’s good news and bad news. The good news is we have a few tickets for Shanty Night to sell on the door. The bad news is that it’s too late to pre order a pasty. The great news is that it’s going to be a fantastic evening!

Whether you need a lift or can offer a space in your car to someone who's stuck, join the West Penwith Car Share community!

It could mean sharing a ride to work or getting people in need to hospital appointments. The point? To help each other travel further afield without putting more cars on the road (especially when public transport isn't an option) πŸ™Œ

April continued to show just how much people across Cornwall care about the places around them.
Last month, 529 volunteers took part in 43 registered litter picks across Cornwall, with 227 bags of waste already reported through our data returns so far.

Behind every one of those numbers are people giving up their time to look after beaches, lanes, villages, towns and green spaces simply because they want to make a difference. Thank you to every volunteer, group, school, business and community organisation that has been out supporting cleaner local environments throughout April.

As always, the figures only reflect the data currently submitted, so if you have not yet returned your litter pick information, please do send it through. It helps us build a clearer picture of the impact volunteers are making right across Cornwall.

We are also continuing to roll out new equipment through our Pubs as Hubs scheme, helping more communities access free litter picking equipment locally. This week we are looking forward to heading to St Ives to deliver new kits to the Royal British Legion as the network continues to grow.

Thank you again to everyone continuing to show up, organise picks, borrow equipment, encourage others and quietly make a difference every single week πŸ’š

Don't miss out on having your say on Cornwall’s SEND Reform Plan πŸ’¬

Parents and carers of children and young people with SEND in Cornwall are invited to help shape the Local SEND Reform Plan.

This new plan will set out how support for children and young people with SEND will improve across education, health and social care – and your lived experience is vital to getting this right.

The plan aims to:
βœ… Improve early support and reduce waiting times
βœ… Strengthen support in mainstream schools
βœ… Join services up and make them easier to navigate
βœ… Help children and young people thrive closer to home

Why your voice matters
Your feedback will help identify what really needs to change, shape priorities for improvement, and make sure services are designed with families, not just for them.

Why now?
National deadlines are tight, with a draft plan due by 15 May and the final version by 19 June. We’re gathering views quickly so parent and carer voices are fully reflected from the start.

Online engagement sessions
πŸ—“ Tuesday 12 May, 9:30–11:00am
πŸ—“ Thursday 14 May, 7:30–9:00pm

Sessions will be interactive and facilitated by the Council for Disabled Children as an independent partner.

πŸ‘‰ To take part, please sign up by 11 May 2026 using the online form below:

This Mental Health Awareness Week, the theme is action.

For Fairwinds, action starts where people are.

For us it means showing up, listening, building trust, and helping mental health support feel reachable in rural and coastal communities.

Small actions matter.

A conversation.
A check-in.
A trusted route into support.
Understanding real industry issues.
