The Commissioner recently hosted a public surgery in Keswick, and it was fantastic to see so many local residents come along, not only for the surgery itself but also for the Community Partnership meeting afterwards.

It was clear how much people care about their community, and it was a privilege to be part of those conversations. Residents raised a number of important issues, including speeding, fly-camping and littering, all of which the Commissioner will continue to work on with local partners and authorities.

Thank you to everyone who attended. The Commissioner’s surgeries are an invaluable opportunity to hear directly from local people, and we appreciate everyone who takes the time to share their views and concerns.

The next surgery is at Evergreen Club, Kirkby Stephen on Thursday 17th September, starting at 4.15pm until 5.15pm.

The Westmorland and Furness Community Safety Partnership is launching a Community Conversation to support the development of a new Community Safety Partnership Plan for 2027-30.

The Community Conversation provides an opportunity for people to offer their views and feedback on a wide range of issues and concerns. The online questionnaire asks about how safe people feel in their local community and what type of crime has the most impact on them.

We would also like to hear views on what concerns people the most. We want to hear from residents, workers, businesses and community groups across Westmorland and Furness.

Findings from the survey will then be used to plan and shape the next set of priorities that the partnership will focus on over a three-year period.

The online survey is live (https://orlo.uk/D2yUW ) here until 18th September. Those who do not have access to the internet can visit their local Westmorland and Furness Library to complete the survey online or request a paper copy.
