💛🚴 10 MONTHS TO GO! 🚴💛

The Royal has turned Tour de France yellow as we start the countdown to one of the biggest sporting events ever to come to Cumbria!

On 3 July 2027, the Tour de France will set off from Keswick, bringing the eyes of the cycling world to our very special corner of the Lake District.

We’re already getting excited about the atmosphere and buzz it’s going to bring to the area, and with just 10 months to go, the countdown is officially ON! 💛

🏨 Planning to come and experience it for yourself? Don’t leave your accommodation until the last minute! If you’d like to stay with us at The Royal, we’d recommend getting booked in early as it’s going to be a very busy weekend across the Lakes.

A pretty special weekend at 1863 🎸

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the legendary Primal Scream to stay and dine with us while they performed at Kendal Calling.

Beef box anyone??

Hello. We don’t post very often, so for those that don’t know us, we are at Gowbarrow Hall Farm by Ullswater and we sell pasture for life certified beef, which means we do not use any grain feed - our cattle graze naturally on our pastures all year round. The farm is also now certified organic. We use our cows to restore habitats and we have seen an incredible increase in biodiversity across the farm since we’ve been managing the farm regeneratively.

We typically sell our beef in beef boxes of different size options (see website https://gowbarrow.co.uk/our-cows/)

We are doing a round of boxes in the first week of August and we will deliver it to you personally for free if you’re local or via courier if not. If you’d like to order one, please feel free to message me directly and I can send more info or fill in an order form on our website.

Don’t miss this - looks fascinating!

This month's Understanding Ullswater talk is a little different... We're heading outdoors! We're excited to announce a special Field Visit to Esthwaite Water, led by Mike Thornley.

With 38 years' experience in wildlife management, Mike has dedicated his career to the conservation of raptors, deer, red squirrels, and many other species.

Many of you will remember his fascinating FOUW talk on Conserving Ospreys last October. Following that evening, Mike kindly offered to take a group of FOUW supporters to see his local ospreys at Esthwaite Water.

Date: Saturday 25th July
Time: The group will meet up at 09.30 at the Hawkshead Car park, then car share to Esthwaite.

As always, the event is free, however donations are kindly welcomed, with 50% of all proceeds going to FOUW, and the remainder to a charity of Mike's choosing.
