🍔 BBQ this bank holiday weekend?

If you don’t want your BBQ ending up looking like this… and resulting in a visit from us 🫣🔥 here are a few important reminders:

• Clean your BBQ before use
• Never leave a BBQ unattended
• Keep BBQs well away from sheds, fencing, houses, trees and plants
• Using a disposable BBQ? Place it on a stable, non-flammable surface such as bricks, and make sure it’s completely cool before disposing of it

A little bit of care can prevent a big fire. Enjoy the sunshine & keep those sausages safe! ☀️🔥

👇 Tag the person who’s in charge of your BBQ this weekend… and share this post to help keep others safe too!

⚠️ THIS IS HOW HOUSE FIRES START — QUIETLY. ⚠️

At first glance, this may look normal.

But look closer:
❌ Multiple plugs crowded into one outlet
❌ Loose or overloaded connection
❌ Possible overheating risk behind the wall

What many people don’t realise is that overloaded outlets and poor plug connections can generate heat over time — even without sparks or flames visible.

🔥 Heat build up inside an outlet can:
• Melt insulation
• Damage wiring
• Ignite nearby materials
• Start an electrical fire while people are asleep

🚨 WARNING SIGNS:
⚡ Warm or hot outlets
⚡ Burning smell
⚡ Flickering lights
⚡ Loose plugs
⚡ Buzzing sounds
⚡ Discoloration around outlets

✅ FIRE SAFETY TIPS:
• Avoid overloading outlets
• Do not force multiple adapters into one socket
• Use certified electrical devices
• Unplug unused appliances
• Replace damaged cords immediately
• Have faulty wiring checked by a licensed electrician

Remember:
Electrical fires often start silently behind walls before flames become visible.

Don’t wait for smoke before taking action.

🔥 Prevention is cheaper than recovery.

On this day in 1945, the war in Europe came to an end. A victory made possible by the courage, resilience and ultimate sacrifice of so many.

They fought not just for peace, but for the freedoms and rights we are privileged to enjoy today.

We remember.

Lest we forget.

It was a very kind gesture and nice touch for Patrington Haven Leisure Park to invite us for a meal, the food was amazing and we all enjoyed the evening and the hospitality provided, thank you 👍🏻

Two years ago, we experienced a night we’ll never forget at the Country Club.

In the immediate aftermath and the months that followed, the support and sheer bravery of our local fire service meant more than we could ever properly put into words at the time. They were there when it mattered most, and they’ve continued to be a constant, reassuring presence in our community ever since.

To mark the moment, we were quietly honoured to welcome members of the fire service back to the Country Club for a complimentary meal, as a small and sincere way of saying thank you, for that night, and for everything they do on a daily basis. It was a pleasure to welcome them to the new Country Club.

From that difficult evening and everything that followed, to where we are now in this new chapter, we remain deeply grateful.

With the current warm weather we'd like to urge the public to resist the temptation of jumping into lakes, rivers and reservoirs to cool off. Doing so not only puts your own life at risk, but the lives of others who may attempt to rescue you.

If you do come across someone in difficulty:
Stay calm and call 999.
Tell them to float on their back and if possible throw them something to hold onto to keep them afloat.
Never enter the water yourself, cold water shock can kill and hidden currents and objects lie beneath the surface.

We recently attended a chimney fire incident which are less common due to the reduction in open fire use.

Chimney fires are usually started when high temperatures or flames from a very hot fire extend into the appliance outlet or flue and the ignition of the combustible deposits within, occur.

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to follow the following guidelines:

•Ensure your chimney is swept regularly

•Externally should be left clear of bird nests or overgrown shrubbery

•Chimneys should be swept according to the type of fuel used:

•Smokeless fuels – at least once a year
•Bitumous coal – at least twice a year
•Wood – quarterly when in use
•Oil – once a year
•Gas – once a year (Any work on gas appliances requires a Gas Safe registered installer/engineer)

•Keep chimneys and flues clean and well maintained

•Be careful when using open fires to keep warm.

•Make sure you always use a fire guard to protect against flying sparks from hot embers

•Ensure the fire is extinguished before going to bed or leaving the house

•Ensure good quality fuel is used

•Never interrupt the air supply by blocking air vents or air bricks

Overloading your plug sockets could cause a fire.

Make sure to keep electrical fuses, wiring and sockets well maintained.

If you have an electrical item that sometimes trips or has a damaged cable, now is the time to get rid of it.
