Greener Future – Argyle Street Community Garden
Posted on 28th May 2026

A new community‑led initiative is set to transform an unused space on Argyle Street into a vibrant, shared garden for everyone to enjoy.

Local residents are working in partnership with Renfrewshire Council, Paisley Housing Association, and Paisley West & Central Community Council to bring this vision to life. Together, they aim to create a welcoming green space that reflects the community’s pride, creativity, and commitment to a more sustainable future.

This project goes beyond gardening — it’s about building connections, enhancing wellbeing, and creating a place the whole neighbourhood can be proud of.

What the project will deliver

The proposed community garden will:

• Enable residents to grow their own fruit, vegetables, and plants.

• Provide opportunities for children and families to learn about nature and sustainability.

• Create a space for neighbours to meet, connect, and strengthen community ties.

• Transform the street into a colourful, attractive environment with shared purpose.

Get involved

The landowners and partners are fully committed to developing the site and are now seeking funding and community support to help turn this vision into reality.

Together, we can create something meaningful for Paisley — a greener, more connected future for Argyle Street.

Broadband and Mobile Social Tariffs
Posted on 8th May 2026

Social tariffs are lower-cost broadband and mobile phone packages for people who are on certain benefits, such as Universal Credit or Pension Credit. Some providers may call these “essential” or “basic” packages.

They work in the same way as standard broadband or phone deals, but they are offered at a reduced price to help people on lower incomes stay connected.

How a social tariff could help you:

· Lower monthly costs – typically between £10 and £24

· Reliable, unlimited broadband – suitable for everyday use

· Fast speeds – often 'superfast' (over 30 Mbps)

· Low or no set-up costs

· Free switching (if your provider offers a social tariff)

· Fixed prices with no increases during your contract

· No exit fees

How to apply

To apply for a social tariff, you need to contact a broadband or mobile provider directly. You can check if your current provider offers a social tariff, apply online, or call your provider to ask to switch. If your current provider does not offer one, you may be able to switch to a provider that does.

Ofcom social tariffs information and application guidance can be found by clicking on the web link here

Checking coverage in your area

Before choosing a provider, it is helpful to check what services are available where you live. You can use Ofcom’s broadband and mobile coverage checker to enter your postcode and compare services and providers.

The STAR Project: Summer 2026 Update
Posted on 7th May 2026

STAR Project Summer Programme is here!

In May, STAR are stitching up a storm in thier Drop-In Tree Workshops and getting creative with Sma’ Shot prep! The group will be out and about in Fountain Gardens for their scheme, Oor memories, and at the Town Hall for the Paisley Book Festival. STAR's artist-in-residence, Britta, will be leading the Candid Chanters writing group, and sharing a recipe for kindness and a prescription for courage in her inspiring new workshop series.

June starts with celebration, recognising STAR's amazing volunteers, and then celebrating fathers, and dad-like figures. They'll explore herbs for health and green cleaning too!

Once the school holidays start, so does their breakfast club! Then it’s time for Sma’ Shot Day parade, circus skills workshops, and STAR's summer trips!

Voting closes for trips this week, so please let STAR know your choices on their Facebook post, if you haven’t already done so!

It’s going to be a super summer at STAR!

Street Lighting Works - High Street, Paisley
Posted on 30th Apr 2026

Pegasus, on behalf of Renfrewshire Council, will be carrying out street lighting works along High Street, Paisley, from the junction with Lady Lane to the edge of Paisley Museum.

The full extent of the works area is shown in the image below.

The works will involve the replacement of lighting columns and associated cabling and are programmed to commence on 5 May 2026, with completion expected by 26 May 2026.

To safely facilitate the works, traffic management measures will be in place, including a combination of lane closures and temporary traffic lights. A temporary parking suspension will operate over the full length of the works area.

This restriction will be progressively moved on site as the works advance.

Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to residents, businesses, and visitors, and to maintain access to local shops and properties.

Please note that No Parking suspension cones will be placed in advance of the works.

If you have any queries regarding the works, please email [email protected] or you can call 0300 300 0300.
