St Mirin's and St Margaret's High School

St Mirin's and St Margaret's High School School for young reprobates. The original buildings were located in East Buchanan Street next to St Mirin's Church. RIP.

St Mirin's Academy was a Catholic senior secondary school for boys founded in 1922 in Paisley, Scotland and dedicated to St Mirin the patron saint of the town and of the Diocese of Paisley. In 1933 the school relocated to new buildings in Renfrew Road. St Mirin's Academy ceased to exist in 1976 when it amalgamated with St Margaret's Senior Secondary (across the road and up the lane!) to become St

Mirin's and St Margaret's High School. The Academy's Latin motto was Fortis et Fidelis ("Brave and Faithful"). The schools closed in 19??, when the St Mirin building became an annexe of reid Kerr College and the St. Margaret building was transformed in to Paisley Sherrif Court, since demolished and turned in to a housing estate. On 24 April 2010 the former St Mirin's Academy building,then part of the Reid Kerr College complex, was badly damaged by a fire. It is believed that the blaze was started deliberately. Estimates of damages run between £250,000 and £500,000. The building was eventually demolished in October 2010.

Hi, my late father, Joe Mc Glone, taught in this school in the late 1960’s before we moved to Donegal in 1969 where my mum was from.Would anyone remember him or have any old pics as I am also a teacher and would love to see any memories from his teaching career.He taught Latin and Greek.

Anyone from the Renfrew area know of any Mayberry's, born in 1961 or 1962? Someone trying to track someone down. Their mum was called Margaret? They probably didn't go to this school.

Does anyone know of any Colhoun's in Paisley or beyond that might be related to a John Colhoun, an ex pupil from the 1930's? He was born in 1918 in Paisley, graduated from Glasgow Uni in 1939, joined the RAF, but died in an air crash in Wexford, Ireland in 1943. The organisers are looking for a photograph of John for a 75th year memorial service that they are holding this year in Wexford.
