Police in Renfrewshire are advising businesses and members of the public to remain vigilant following an increase in incidents involving counterfeit notes being used at local premises.

Recent reports indicate that counterfeit notes have been presented at a number of businesses, including retail and hospitality venues.

When accepting cash payments, staff are encouraged to take a moment to check notes carefully.

Signs a note may be counterfeit include:

⚠️ Ink that can be scraped off with a fingernail (this will not occur on genuine polymer notes)
⚠️ Holograms that appear stuck on rather than being part of the note design
⚠️ Poor print quality or blurred details

Businesses are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspected counterfeit notes.

If you receive a suspected counterfeit note, please report it to Police Scotland by calling 101

All because of one lone skater gliding across the world's largest ice rink wearing a kilt on Burns Day, the Great Canadian Kilt Skate has grown in the past 11 years to become a movement across the USA, Canada, and now even in the home of Robert Burns, right here in Scotland. ❄️

Braehead Arena has teamed up with the organisers to host a home leg this Saturday (21 February) afternoon on their ice rink, and they are urging other ice rinks to join in for the kilt skate next year.

The Skate takes place at 2.30pm on Saturday at Braehead, and skating is FREE for anyone wearing a kilt.

FAO Glenburn residents.

Renfrewshire Council have received information from Scottish Forestry on the requirement re-plant the Braemount site, where trees were previously felled due to disease.
They have confirmed that we must re-stock the site in accordance with the Felling Licence which was granted for the removal of the trees.
The council will aim to schedule re-planting over the period October 2026 to March 2027 which will keep us within the Scottish Forestry deadline of June 2027.
If you have any questions please drop them in the ‘comments’.
