Little one starting school in August or September?

Did you know…. while building towers, walls and working out “how can we make this stronger?” children are naturally developing early maths skills including shape, size, measuring and counting. (And they can do all this and more at Little City!)

Our dedicated Construction area also supports:
- Language and social skills through teamwork and discussion
- Fine motor skills through using tools and building pieces
- Gross motor skills through carrying and building with bricks, using a wheelbarrow and driving the digger
- Independence skills that support everyday tasks like dressing themselves

We’ve seen so many brilliant scenarios in this area - but a favourite has to be building homes for animals from the vets. Active play, creativity, communication and practical problem solving at its best!

What can you do at home? 🧱
- Build with blocks, boxes or cushions
- Encourage problem solving questions like “how could we make it stronger?”
- Play together and talk through ideas as you build

✨ We know flexibility matters when you have little ones ✨

Because let’s be honest... life with young children rarely goes exactly to plan!

That’s why we’ve designed Little City sessions to work around real family life:

🕤 Two session times
Choose from 9:30–10:45am or 11:00am–12:15pm to fit around school runs, slow mornings, naps and snack times.

🎟️ No termly commitment
Book one session at a time with our pay-as-you-go tickets. Come when it suits you, without committing to weeks in advance.

🔄 Need to change your plans?
If something crops up, you can transfer your booking to another session with 24 hours’ notice.

We’re here to make getting out of the house with little ones feel as easy and stress-free as possible. 💙

I kicked off the week with a fantastic school workshop at Stanford in the Vale CE primary school this morning!

Reception class had 2 hours of independent child-led role-play to facilitate their topic “people who help us”. They had also just finished their topic of superheroes and so they enjoyed the new capes and masks I’ve added for school visits.

I loved watching the children create their own stories and collaborate together. There are always lots of cops and robbers on school workshops but today was next level! The vets put in a solid shift caring for the animals, the hairdressers provided excellent service to all the teachers and the mechanics finally fixed the car engine. They also had their photos taken by their favourite area at the end which was such a lovely way to see the whole of the city enjoyed by all.
