The neighbourhood team visited the Churchill car show today, and yet again the organisers put on an amazing day,

Excellent cars, excellent food, and a really good turnout.

We were on hand to answer any local concerns, show the young ones around the police car.......and a few dads, of course, but all in all a really positive atmosphere.

Just for awareness in the carterton area.

A report came in today of a male entering a property without knocking or ringing the bell, the male has gone upstairs and upon seeing the resident, has exclaimed that he has made a mistake and gone to the wrong property,
The resident clearly unnerved by this has called us for reassurance.

At this time we have no reason to suspect any offences were committed or due to be, but as public awareness we are giving a description of the male.
He is described as 50-60 with balding, but white hair, he was dressed in grey shorts and t shirt, and spoke well, no vehicle was seen in area ,the location was a side road off Alvescot road heading out of Carterton.

If you have any concerns of this nature please contact us on 101 or online,alternatively if any person enters your property find a safe place and call us on 999.

The resident concerned is safe and well with some added security advice.

The neighbourhood team attended the Carterton playday event today on the recreation ground,

very well attended and lots to do, we had visitors to see the police car, gave souvenir fingerprint keyrings, and other goodies.

A big thank you to the organisers for a very well organised event, brilliant weather and such a good community spirit.

A boy reported missing from Charlbury has been located safe and well.

Finley was found yesterday (9/6) and we would like to thank everyone that shared our appeal to find him.

With the 2026 World Cup about to kick off, your West Oxfordshire Neighbourhood Team is urging everyone to enjoy the tournament—but make safety your first choice every time.

🚨 In 2023, 1,860 people were killed or seriously injured due to one or more drivers having alcohol or drugs in their system.

If you are going out to watch the game:
✅ Plan your way home before you go out – bus, taxi, or a walk.
✅ Stay with friends and look out for each other.
✅ Never get behind the wheel after drinking or taking drugs.

👮‍♂️ As the tournament plays on, officers from the team will be proactively stopping vehicles and conducting roadside breath and drug tests where grounds exist. You will be caught.

Choosing to drink or drug drive could:
❌ Cost you your licence for at least 12 months.
❌ Cost you your job.
❌ Leave you with a criminal record or a prison sentence.
❌ Destroy lives – including your own or someone else’s.

🚫 Do not let one wrong decision be your final whistle.

👉 Before the first drink, make the plan.
👉 Look after your mates.
👉 Speak up if someone is about to drive.

✅ Enjoy the football—but together let’s make sure everyone gets home safe. 🏆

We are appealing for the public’s help to locate a wanted man from Witney.

Andrew Silver, aged 43, is wanted in connection with theft and fraud offences in Witney on 21 April this year.

Silver is described as white, of slim build, approximately 6ft tall, with a slight beard and typically wears a black jacket.

He is known to frequent Witney.

If you see Andrew, call 999.

Tragically, we’ve seen a number of lives lost in open water across the UK recently. It’s a reminder that even calm-looking water can be dangerous.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Witney Fire Station Open Day – what a fantastic day it was! 🔥🚓🚑
Visitors were treated to some incredible demonstrations, including how fire and ambulance crews work together to safely rescue someone trapped in a vehicle.
There was also the chance for everyone to have a go at CPR using Annie, which was a great way to learn valuable lifesaving skills. And of course, the police vehicle sirens were a big hit with visitors of all ages! 🚨
It was brilliant to see the community come together – thank you again for your support!
