ODS Working to deliver cost-effective public and commercial services in and around Oxford.

ODS was born out of the need to maintain Oxford City Council’s housing stock, parks and streets. It was formally established as a wholly-owned company in 2017 and now has over 600 employees. It is made up of two companies that work together to deliver cost-effective public and commercial services. ODS deliver a number of services including:

• Recycling & Waste including commercial and domestic
w

aste, bin cleaning and skip hire.
• Construction of new homes and community centres and
refurbishments.
• Civil engineering including highway maintenance,
drainage and sign manufacturing.
• Fleet and electric vehicles including servicing, MOT’s and repairs.
• Property maintenance including gas and electric repairs and property improvements.
• Open spaces including maintenance of parks, landscaping, tree removals, hot power washing and pest control. ODS is a business, creating social value through the services delivered directly to residents and through the commercial services provided to business institutions and other local authorities. ODS creates a more inclusive and sustainable economy that balances purpose and profit; one that considers the impact of decisions on employees, customers, suppliers, the community and our environment.

🌱 Today marks the start of , the UK’s biggest celebration of community action on climate change and nature, running until 14 June.

Great Big Green Week is about people coming together to make a real, practical difference for our environment, our communities, and future generations — values that sit at the heart of what we do at ODS. Every day, our teams are out cleaning streets, reducing waste, protecting green spaces, and supporting a cleaner Oxford. Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting some of this work and sharing simple ways we can build a greener city 🌍

A big thank you to our incredible frontline teams! 🙌 🌞

With the hot weather continuing, our recycling and waste crews, parks teams, streets staff, and all of our frontline colleagues are out across Oxford working incredibly hard — collecting waste, keeping the roads safe and making sure Oxford's streets and green spaces stay clean and welcoming 🚛 🛣️ 🧹

These teams are out early, cleaning, sweeping, repairing, tidying and supporting our city in tough conditions, and we want to say a massive thank you for everything they do 💛

We’re proud to be supporting The Great British Farm-Fest 2026 🚜♻️

At a time when UK farming is facing real challenges, Farm-Fest is a brilliant opportunity to celebrate, champion and support the people and businesses at the heart of British agriculture.

ODS Group is pleased to be playing our part by delivering the commercial waste management for the event at in Stoneleigh, helping keep the site clean, safe and running smoothly throughout the weekend.

With appearances from Jeremy Clarkson, Lisa Hogan, Kaleb Cooper, Charlie Ireland, Adam Henson and more, Farm-Fest is set to bring together farmers, families, food producers, countryside communities and festivalgoers for a major celebration of British farming.

We’re delighted to support an event that shines a spotlight on such an important industry.

🌼 We were proud to support Sobell House Hospice at the beautiful Blenheim Palace for the installation of their stunning Forever Flowers display.

Chosen by our people as ODS’s Charity of the Year, supporting Sobell House is about more than fundraising. It is about giving our time to causes that matter to our communities.

A huge thank you to Sian and Kerry from ODS who volunteered alongside the Sobell House team to help install the display of 680 gold forget me not flowers, each representing someone cared for by the hospice.

A moving tribute in an incredible setting, and a reminder of the care, compassion and support Sobell House provides every day. 💛

ODS keeps Oxford looking its best after May Morning ☀️🧼

While most of Oxford was still asleep last Friday 1 May, ODS' dedicated Streetscene teams were already out in full force, supporting the May Morning celebrations from the very early hours of the morning to keep the streets clean, safe, and ready for the day.

Working closely with Oxford City Council, Magdalen College, and the Covered Market, sweepers, hot wash units and litter crews were deployed across the city centre. Roads were reopened by 9am.

From emptying bins and washing down public spaces, to helping the Covered Market open early, ODS' teams worked tirelessly to ensure the city looked its best after welcoming over 18,500 people for the celebrations.

Advice from the Dog Warden: New Livestock Laws – What You Need to Know 🐄🐑

Here in Oxford, we’re lucky to enjoy incredible open spaces like Port Meadow and Raleigh Park, home to grazing cattle and ponies that play a vital role in protecting our environment 🌍

These animals:
🌼 Boost biodiversity
🌱 Improve soil health
🔥 Help reduce fire risks
🌾 Support wildflower growth and natural ecosystems

⚠️ But with this comes responsibility.

Under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025 (effective March 2026):

🚨 Chasing livestock is now legally considered “worrying”
🚨 Failing to control your dog can lead to large fines
🚨 Police have the power to seize dogs causing distress to livestock

🐕 Key advice for dog owners:
✔️ Keep dogs on a short lead around livestock—especially near calves
✔️ Avoid walking between cows and their young
✔️ Stay calm if approached—don’t run or panic
✔️ If cattle become aggressive, release the lead (they usually target the dog, not you)
✔️ Gradually train and expose your dog to livestock safely

This law protects all livestock: cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, alpacas/llamas, and poultry.

Let’s all do our part to keep people, pets, and animals safe while preserving these beautiful spaces.

🌿 RESPECT. PROTECT. ENJOY. 🌿 Oxford City Council

🏉 What a season for Oxford Under-12s!

Sunday marked their final game of the year, finishing on a high with a strong 60–25 win over Bicester. A fantastic effort from the whole squad, showing real teamwork and determination.

We’re proud that ODS has supported the team throughout the season as part of our partnership with Oxford RFC, and it’s been brilliant to see the players develop and proudly wear the ODS logo.

Even better, we’re delighted to be continuing our sponsorship for another two seasons, supporting grassroots rugby and the next generation of talent.

Well done to all the players, coaches, and families on a great season - we can’t wait for what’s next! 💪🏉

Millions of vapes and pods are still being thrown away every week in the UK.

When vapes and pods are binned, their hidden lithium batteries can be crushed in bin lorries and recycling centres, sparking dangerous fires and wasting valuable materials 🔥

The good news is vapes, pods and anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled!

♻️ Kerbside recycling:
Put vapes and small electricals in a clear plastic bag on top of your blue or green bin lid on your collection day.

🏢 Live in a flat or want to recycle sooner?
