Waterperry Gardens Waterperry Gardens - 20 acres of inspirational gardens nestling in the Oxfordshire countryside
(288)

Waterperry Gardens were established in the early 1930's by Beatrix Havergal - who ran her School of Horticulture for Ladies here until the 1970's. Now it has been developed into 8 acres of beautiful ornamental gardens, a plant centre, garden shop, gallery, gift barn, museum and teashop and is a great day out. We remain true to our 'roots' offering gardening and arts & crafts courses throughout the year as well as a programme of annual events.

Join The Lord Chamberlain’s Men this summer for Othello, Sunday 28th June - 6:30pm - 8:40pm.

One of the most captivating and thrilling plays ever written. See it performed how William Shakespeare first saw it, as The Lord Chamberlain’s Men – with a history stretching back to Shakespeare’s original company – present this play in the open air, with an all-male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.

Exiting the Winter Walk, you’ll notice our ‘Rosa Paul’s Himalayan Musk’. An exceptional climber boasting large clusters of delicate, rosette-shaped blooms in a lovely pale pink hue, each one borne separately to create a dreamy, airy effect. The flowers are adorned with a wonderfully strong musky fragrance that will captivate the senses, and while they grace the garden for just one season, their abundant presence makes for a magnificent show.

Reaching heights of up to 5m (15ft), this rampantly vigorous plant produces long, trailing, flexible stems that drape gracefully over any support, their broad, hooked thorns and copper-tinted young leaves adding to the allure. Whether cascading over a pergola or climbing into a tree, Rosa ‘Paul’s Himalayan Musk’ is a true horticultural marvel, sure to enchant all who behold its beauty.
