John Henry Newman Academy Welcome to John Henry Newman Academy, a "Good" school in the heart of Littlemore, Oxford. We are a two-form entry school for children aged between 3 and 11.

John Henry Newman Academy, in the heart of Littlemore, is a vibrant, happy and exciting place to be for children and their families. The Academy serves the inner city of Oxford and the communities of Littlemore, Rosehill and Blackbird Leys. We are a church school underpinned by our strong Christian ethos with well-established links with our local church and diocese. We welcome children and familie

s from all faiths backgrounds and embrace the diverse community we have in Littlemore. The first school in Littlemore was founded in 1830 by the 19th Century priest and poet John Henry Newman. There has been a church school in Littlemore ever since these beginnings. The Littlemore Infants School was sited on land donated by the owner of the Lawn Upton estate and built in 1903, it later became known as Speedwell School. The new John Henry Newman CE Aided Primary school was built in 2002 on a wonderful history and tradition of primary education provided by the previous two schools. In 2012, the Governors opted to convert to Academy Status with the Diocese of Oxford as its sponsor, the first school as part of the newly created Multi Academy Trust.

We are so proud of everything our Year 6 pupils have achieved this year. As you leave JHNA and begin your next adventure, continue to let your lights shine and believe in yourselves.

You will be greatly missed, but we know your futures are bright and we wish you every success in the exciting journey ahead.

🌟 Sports Award Winners 2026 🌟

Well done to Jake & Harmony, who are this year’s Year Six Sports Award Winners. Jake & Harmony both captained the Year 5/6 football teams this year to Semi Finals in both Manor Cup Competitions & also to victory in the Federation Cup.

They also turned up to monthly RunClubs @ various different parks across Oxford to improve their 2K best times. Their behaviour, leadership & the way they act as a role model alongside their sporting prowess is why they have won this award.

Year 6 have had an amazing weekend away making core memories they will never forget.

From abseiling, kayaking, zip wiring and much much more we have truly had the best time.

Well done to all of year 6 for conquering their fears, working together and letting their lights shine.
