Oxford Say YES to NUS

We're thrilled to hear that the NUS YES campaign has won and that we will be remaining affiliated with the National Union of Students. This is an incredible victory for students across the UK, as it ensures that our voices will continue to be heard and that we can join forces with other students to campaign for the issues that matter to us.

We want to express my sincere gratitude to all the students who voted YES and supported our campaign. Your engagement and participation have been essential to our success, and we truly appreciate your trust and confidence in us.

As we move forward, we're optimistic about the future relationship between Oxford SU and the NUS. We will continue to work together to create a stronger, more united student movement that can make a difference for ourselves and for the world. We believe that together, we can achieve great things and create a better future for all students.

We want to thank everyone who has been a part of this campaign, from the volunteers who distributed flyers and shared our message on social media, to the students who engaged in debates and discussions about the referendum. Your commitment to student representation and advocacy is what makes our community strong and vibrant.

The UK NUS has a rich history of fighting for student rights and achieving incredible successes. From developing the original student discount card to securing discounts for students worldwide with the ISIC card, to introducing student railcards for 16-17-year-olds, to establishing Endsleigh Insurance for student needs, to ensuring that students don't pay council tax, and leading the charge on trans rights and gender recognition bills in Scotland - the NUS has been fighting for students for years. ✅✅✅

Let's keep our Oxford SU affiliated with the NUS and continue to be part of this powerful student movement! ✊🏻

The NUS, working alongside SUs, successfully got 80 universities to end the use of Non-Disclosure Agreements to silence victims of sexual violence, including 3 Oxford colleges – and we're working on the rest! 👇🏻
