Some exclamations of excitement and some, slightly warier, squeals as we explored what fantastic creatures lurked beneath the surface of Mill Lake at this morning's pond dipping adventures!

We were also lucky enough to see a dragonfly just emerged from it's nymph exoskeleton.

🎣 ANGLING AT BARNWELL COUNTRY PARK

Following recent discussions with the angling community here at Barnwell Country Park, we have made some changes to our pricing structure. A season fishing permit is now available as follows:

🐟 Adults - £20
🐟 Concessions - £15
🐟 Under 16s - free

⚠️ The new prices mean anglers will need to purchase their own car parking ticket to cover the duration of their stay at the park.

Barnwell Wildife update:

4 cygnets, Mandarin ducklings and a caterpillar of the Lackey Moth have all been spotted around the park within the last couple of days. We are still waiting for the Great Created Grebe's to hatch.

If you are planning a visit to the park during half term, please be mindful of the wildlife and don't get too close.

As for the hot weather please make sure you take the appropriate precautions to enjoy your time

Lots of youth down the park today ...

- 🐥 Fluffy, day-old mandarin ducklings
- 🦆 Boisterous, teenage mallard ducklings
- 🦤 A recently fledged heron chick
- 🐿 And a very cheeky squirrel!!
.. all spotted by our Weekly Wednesday Wellbeing Walkers!

We are a small, friendly group that meets every week for a short Ranger led stroll around the park paths, observing the small, but significant, changes in nature from week to week.

No need to book - simply meet us outside the Kingfisher Cafe on Wednesdays at 1:30 PM.

This morning's Nature Tots just about managed to dodge the heavy showers as we went on a bear hunt around the park!

Barnwell Nature Tots meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 10:00am to 11:30am.

Each session includes a short, ranger-led walk to explore the park and collect natural materials for seasonal craft activities.
