We’d like to hear resident’s views on funding our local police service for the year ahead.
A new survey has been launched by the Mayor about the level of the local 'police precept' for 2024/25 - the part of our Council Tax bill that helps to fund policing in West Yorkshire.
The precept makes a significant contribution to the total cost of policing in West Yorkshire.

It is with deep sorrow that we are sharing the passing away of one of our dear colleagues. After a short & hard battle with cancer, Vicky Campini passed away on Friday 24th March surrounded by her family. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a friend that was dear to us all in many ways, but also a very good lifeguard & swimming teacher, as the hundreds of children she has taught to swim attests to.

All our love & thoughts go to Vicky’s family at this sad time.

We have come to the end of significant pool repair works jointly funded by the Prince Henry’s Grammar School and Leeds City Council, which began in March 2022. The works have included the re-forming of outlet and inlet channels within the pool, as well as the de-scaling of all existing cast iron pipework. There have also been additional, smaller, unplanned contingency works associated with a building of this age that we have carried out within the same timeframe. As of Monday 13th March, Prince Henrys re-opened the pool in its entirety.

Unfortunately, there is a national recruitment shortage in the Leisure industry that is impacting the service within Leeds City Council.

In short we are unable to recruit and deliver these services directly. In agreement with the school, we have looked to introduce a short term solution to ensure we provide some of the key services (I.e. children’s swimming lessons) as soon as possible. The school have agreed to increase their pool usage in partnership with other local providers in order to deliver children's swimming lessons. We believe this helps strengthen Chippendale Pool's position long term. This is very much a joint project which we believe can be beneficial moving forward.

We are still committed to providing public swimming, school swimming and private lessons at Aireborough Active.

Leeds Dock Running club is a social running group whose aim to encourage as many people to come out, have a run and meet new people.

To us, we want everyone to enjoy their run the best way the can with great company!

We meet on;

Monday- 6.15pm for a chatty pace 5-7km

Wednesday- 6.15pm for mixed sessions (mostly time based) including intervals, hills, 7-10km steady pace runs.

Sundays- 10.30am long runs for our runners training for endurance and the leeds Marathon/Half marathon. Usually 10-20km.
