West Lancashire Borough Council has voted to abandon Ormskirk after over 130 years as the centre for local government , shift all staff to Skelmersdale and demolish the civic building, which also houses the registry office. The move will see the bulldozers rip through the Art Deco building and £6 million spent tarting up a 1970's concrete tower block in Skem. Conservative and opposition parties opposed the move
